Let’s Have Fun

Leisure time opportunities can have a major impact on our life quality and self-esteem. Social and recreational programs also broaden our awareness of the world, improve our health, and increase our social circle. GGRC strongly supports the right of all consumers to participate in local recreational programs. This is a right guaranteed under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

In order to support consumers to access local recreational services, GGRC is developing a comprehensive social/recreational resource directory. We hope that this information will make it easier for consumers to participate in local recreational activities, especially families with children and adolescents.  The directory will emphasize generic integrated activities and highlight special inclusion/accessibility services that will enhance consumers’ experiences. The directory will address list programs and classes for:

·        After School Socialization

·        Arts/Music Activities

·        Day Camps

·        Family Activities

·        Camps & Weekend Programs

·        Parent Support & Information

·        Parks & Recreation Activities

·        Sports/Physical Activities

·        Teen Specialty Programs

It will provide information about program locations, contacts, hours, services, and costs. The directory will be available for free to consumers in printed form as well as on the Internet.

We have just begun collecting information for the directory and would appreciate your help. If you know of a great leisure program for children or adolescents or a program that provides special accommodations or discounts for consumers, please share that information with us. Also, if you are interested in being a part of the development and maintenance of this directory please contact us.
