TransparencyThe regional center system stands at a critical moment in its history: the Governor has proposed to remove a critical investment of $1 Billion dollars from new service provider rates, slated to begin July 1, 2024 (and in current law).
The only way to stop this budget proposal from being accepted is to educate lawmakers on the devastating effects this proposal will have on those we serve and their families in our high-cost area. Staff hiring and retention at service providers will deteriorate even further, and services will become even more restricted and difficult to access because of the lack of appropriate rates that support paying Direct Service Professionals a sustainable wage.
As part of the mobilization effort against the Governor's proposal, Golden Gate Regional Center will host two legislative breakfasts with state and federal legislators as guests, where our community can hear their views and share ours with them. Please consider attending one of these free events (registration is required to attend), which will be held on April 19th and May 3rd, respectively.
